This month there is a lot of activity taking place in Calgary that you won't want to miss. November can sometimes be a difficult month as we make the transition into much cooler weather. If you're looking for something to do this month, here are some ideas that you may like.

Go shopping for antiques

The Heritage Park Heirloom Sale is on until November 9. If you're in the market for antique toys, china, jewelry or furniture, stop by Heritage Park. Proceeds will be put towards education and restoration programs for the park.

Indulge in Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine

Barcelona Tavern is scheduled to open in the middle of November. This is the only tonic and gin bar you'll find in downtown Calgary and the restaurant offers unique Mediterranean and Spanish dishes. It's the newest restaurant to open on 8th Ave. and if you're looking for something different, this may just be what your taste buds are craving.

Wrap up your Christmas shopping early

Every year you promise yourself that you’ll get your Christmas shopping done early. This year you can do it at the Okotoks Christmas Festival, the Bragg Creek Artisan's Christmas Sale and the Millerville Christmas Market. You can also check out the 3 new stores that are opening at Market Mall, which include Tommy Gun’s, SoftMoc and Journey's.

Attend the 4th annual Snowfest

On November 16 you can get ready for the ski season in style. Attend Snowfest at Mountain Equipment Co-Op on 10 Ave., S.W. to see the tradeshow, find out about avalanche safety, swap your gear, win a prize and much more.

Enjoy some creamy chowder

The Hyatt Regency is hosting this Chowder Chowdown, which is a competition to find the Chowdown Champion. You'll be able to sample a variety of chowders and vote for your favorite. It's a warm and cozy way to enjoy this cooler month and it will be taking place on November 19 at the Hyatt at 700 Centre Street Southeast.
