Calgary City Trails

For those who prefer to be 100% self-propelled, Calgary has the most extensive urban trail system in North America. Approximately 635 km of pathways and 260 km of bikeways scout the city highways and byways, taking walkers, joggers, cyclists and rollerbladers to work, school and play every day, all-year-round. The city has regular snow removal on the best-loved paths to keep residents moving even in the coldest months. Like the rest of Calgary, the Northwest is well-served by this fantastic inner-city system.

There are a number of environmentally protected areas in the NW sector of Calgary that are open public land. Edgemont Ravines, Ranchlands, Confederation Park, Bowmont Park and Nose Hill Park all give Calgarians a chance to explore the natural ecosystems of Alberta wetlands, high plains, and grasslands right in the heart of the city.
