This is the time of year when it's fun to try arts and crafts. Holiday markets are starting to pop up around town and it's the season to start buying holiday items you'll need for the season. Stock up on Christmas gifts at these arts and crafts markets around Calgary before December.
Okotoks Christmas Festival
At the Foothills Centennial Centre this November 7th and 8th, you can enjoy Christmas shopping while listening to the Foothills Philharmonic Chorus. You can get old fashioned pictures with Santa, try kids' crafts at Santa's workshop and all donations for the day will go to the Okotoks Food Bank.
Enjoy shopping from over 100 local boutique businesses and artists featuring handmade, upcycled and unique products. The event will go from 4pm-9pm on November 7th and 10am-5pm on November 8th.
Handmade Here Holiday Show and Sale
Triwood Community Hall will be featuring the Handmade Here Holiday Show and Sale on November 15th and 16th. Local artists will get to display their paintings, prints, ceramics, textiles and more for sale. There is no cost to attend and purchase some unique Christmas gifts this year.
Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Association Gift Market
If you go Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Hall on November 28th, you can enjoy free admission to the gift market. There will be handmade goods like mittens and terrariums. They'll have cider and hot chocolate to enjoy while you shop.
Haskayne Mercantile Block
Another excellent holiday market in Calgary takes place at Heritage Park’s Haskayne Mercantile Block. While these shops are open year round, they are truly transformed into a magical winter wonderland from late November through December during the ‘Once Upon a Christmas’ festivities.
These distinctive stores are filled with wonderful gift items ranging from one-of-a-kind handcrafted wares and books to gourmet edibles. During the holiday season, the mercantile boasts a special section just for kids. This gives them the opportunity to ‘surprise’ family and friends with gifts they purchase under the supervision of a volunteer.
This holiday season stock up on unique Christmas gifts by going to the holiday arts and crafts events around Calgary.
