With so many great places to live throughout the city and the suburbs, it's hard to figure out exactly where the best neighbourhoods are located. Answering this question depends a little bit on what you need. Families will find some neighbourhoods to fit better with their needs, while singles and young couples may prefer a different area of the city. If you plan to relocate to Calgary or it's time for a change, consider these top neighbourhoods.

Elboya

It's hard to argue with this gorgeous community. With the Elbow River providing great scenery and the views of downtown, this is one of the most popular neighbourhoods in all of Calgary. The streets are lined with mature trees, residents enjoy direct access to downtown and there are plenty of great trails and pathways for the outdoor enthusiast.

Sunnyside

This might be the best overall location in all of Calgary. With the Bow River on the north side, downtown close by and many other top attractions just a hop, skip and a jump from Sunnyside, it's become a desirable choice for new residents. If you work downtown, you won't need to depend on your own vehicle. Along with the great location, residents enjoy a quiet area with a beautiful community garden and pesticide-free parks.

Sunnyside provides some of the oldest homes found in the city. The historic buildings give the neighbourhood plenty of charm and the view of the Bow River and Downtown skyline make this a great area for many. When homes hit the market in Sunnyside, they are often snatched up quickly.

Altadore

Finding a neighbourhood with large parks and amazing shopping isn't always easy, but Altadore provides both. Marda Loop provides over 125 stores for your shopping needs, while River Park, Glenmore Athletic Park and Sandy Beach provide plenty of green space. The best part, you can walk to nearly anything within the community. Altadore is also home to the largest off-leash dog park in the city and the best place to start your rafting journey down Elbow River.

It's hard to find a neighbourhood that offers everything you need. However, West Hillhurst may come really close. With trendy coffee shops, popular pubs and a great pathway system, there's something for everybody. The Bow River is found on the north side of West Hillhurst and it's located close to downtown, as well. However, it's far enough from downtown to remain a quiet community with all the access you desire.
