One of Calgary's favorite farmers’ markets is open for business with more than 150 vendors providing local produce, specialty foods, meat, baking supplies, arts and crafts and more. As well, there is weekly live entertainment available along with seasonal attractions.
Find out who the farmers are in the area at one of the largest and successful markets in Alberta. The people that you'll find standing behind the tables are the local bakers, farmers and artists from our region. Take a moment when you're by one of the tables to talk to these local farmers and thank them for supplying you with their lovely produce.
The seasonal events include the following:
- Canada Day Millarville annual races on July 1
- The Millarville Rodeo on August 1 to the 3rd
- A half marathon called “Run to the Farmers’ Market” that took place on June 14
- The Millarville Christmas market that runs from November 7 to the 9th
When you're looking for a reason to get outdoors to enjoy the beautiful countryside, head on over to the farmers’ market. It's hosted by the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society, which is a nonprofit organization with 300 volunteers and 100 members.
This market not only provides local produce and products from merchants but also contributes to many youth groups and community clubs including 4H. There are also facilities here that can be rented out for parties and weddings. The facilities and the nonprofit Society is mainly operated through volunteers, grants and donations from the public.
The market is located at the Millarville Racetrack at 192 Street West and Highway 549 East. It is open every Saturday, come rain or shine, from 9 AM to 2 PM. When you're there, don't forget to indulge in some of their famous Millarville Ice Cream. It's a taste sensation you won't soon forget.
