If you're one of the many golfers in Calgary that has been waiting in anticipation for golf season, there's good news! Most of the golf courses in the area are preparing to open as early as this week!
The Shaganappi Point, McCall Lake and Confederation golf courses will tentatively be open this week, based on the golf course and weather conditions. A lot of avid golfers are sure to be muttering under their breaths, "Finally!"
What's new for Calgary golfers in 2014?
This year, golfing has become easier with a new City of Calgary app for players that are looking for more information about the city golf courses. The app is available at the Android Market or at the Apple App Store. It's free to download and can be found by conducting a search for "City of Calgary Golf Courses."
This interactive app allows a golfer to book a tee time online and receive news updates and special notifications. It also offers an interactive score card, a hole satellite flyover and GPS yardage. Reservations for tee times can be made in advance through the Golf App, by phone or at the City of Calgary website at Calgary.ca/golf.
It's expected that Monday and Tuesday will be beautiful with temperatures reaching between 17°C and 19°C. This will be welcome weather after a brutal March that consisted of ice, cold and snow. The temperature is expected to cool down a bit after that but we will still be able to enjoy average temperatures for this time of the year. This means that golfing season is about to begin in Calgary!
Don't forget to download the free app to bring your 2014 game up to a new level!
