The Best Calgary Events for Canada DayIt's Canada Day and there are a lot of activities planned for the day here in Calgary. Join the free activities that include live music performed on Riverfront stage by Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and Mother Mother, BassBus and Food Truck Roundup at Festival Market, a Powwow by First Nations on Prince's Island and then take in the incredible fireworks display by Hudson's Bay. Here are just some of the free events that are being put on this year to mark Canada's birthday:

Prince’s Island Park Powwow

From 9:30 AM until 6 PM you can enjoy this powwow that showcases the original dress and culture of the First Nations of Canada. There will be dancing, music and storytelling to celebrate the contributions that have been made by First Nations people to the Canadian culture.

Riverfront Avenue Living Flag

From 4 PM until 6 PM, you can become a part of the living flag! If you're one of the first 3,000 people to check in you'll receive a free white or red T-shirt! You can also just head over to the event wearing white or red and join the event. Improv entertainment will be provided by Loose Moose Theatre until it's time to take the final picture and sing the national anthem.

Olympic Plaza

From 11 AM until 4 PM the kids can take part in the celebrations with special activities, kid’s music and games.

Fort Calgary

Children's events are also planned at Fort Calgary this Canada Day. Bring the kids to enjoy a free pancake breakfast, pony rides, jump houses and a petting zoo. All of the events that are running outside are free and you'll only have to pay half price for indoor admission.

Calgary Central Library

This Canada Day, Central Library is opening its doors for Calgarians to enjoy activities of every shape and size. Anyone who comes to the library this Canada Day can participate in storytimes, arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, giant chess, Jenga games, and a Canada-themed selfie-station.

Harry Hays Building

Enjoy a Canada Day evening from 6 PM until 11 PM with performing artists such as Mother Mother, Scarlett Jane, Ridley Bent and Michael Bernard Fitzgerald. It all takes place on Riverfront stage on the north lawn that faces the Bow River.
