If you're ready to get down and dirty with your spring cleaning, here are some tips to help you get things done quickly. While the urge to clean can get very strong at this time a year, once you get started you'll want to get it done fast so that you can make it outside to enjoy the warmer weather.
1. Handle the biggest tasks first
When you take a look at all of your spring cleaning projects they can seem overwhelming. Tackle the biggest ones first to get them out of the way. When you're left with only the smaller tasks to handle, things go a lot faster and it makes the rest of the cleanup a breeze!
2. Work from the top to the bottom
Don’t create more work for yourself! If you need to clean the ceiling fixtures, do them first! If you scrub the floors first and then tackle the lighting fixtures, you'll have dust and dirt particles falling on the floor that you've just cleaned.
3. Put a strategic plan in place
It’s always fun to make a plan and then scratch things off the list as they are completed. Write out your complete project and make sure that it gets done. The final item at the bottom of the list should be some type of reward for yourself for getting everything completed.
4. Get your tools in place first
Once you have made a list of all of the spring cleaning projects that you need to do, figure out all the tools you'll need to have in place. You may have to run out and get a few cleaning products, for example. When you have it all planned ahead of time, including the tools that you'll need, you won't get caught in the middle of a task without the right products or cleaning equipment. You certainly won't want to have to drive to the supermarket to pick up a bottle of window cleaner when you're part way through the spring cleanup.
5. When you're done you're done
Once you have scratched off everything on the list, call it a day. It's inevitable that you'll find extra cleaning projects to do as you are working your way through the list. There needs to be an end to this spring cleaning cycle though. If you see anything else that needs doing, create a separate list for it. You'll have the rest of the spring and summer months to finish up the little cleaning tasks that you’ve found.
