Wintergreen Golf and Country Club

The season is upon us once again and Wintergreen Golf and Country Club is now open. This facility features a beautiful course in the foothills of Bragg Creek about 30 minutes from Calgary. If you enjoy golfing through the forests with rolling hills and plenty of great scenery, this is the perfect course for you.

The course measures just over 6,700 yards from the back tees with four different tee stations. It winds its way around a large lake with plenty of pine and spruce trees along the way. There's over 100-feet of vertical relieve and you'll enjoy the rolling terrain, as well. Many ponds and streams add to the beauty and challenge of the course.

Wintergreen also features a practice facility with everything you need. There's an expansive short game area including sand traps, a putting green, chipping area and pitching area. Whether you need to work out the issues in your swing or you need to work on the shots around the green, you'll find everything necessary here.

D’Arcy Ranch Golf Club

D'Arcy Ranch Gold Club is found must a few minutes south of Calgary. This 18-hole public course features a fully balanced design with plenty of natural beauty. Tree-lined ravines, slopes and plenty of water add to the beauty and the challenge of playing this course.

The golf club has become the 17th golf course to be designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. This means the course is using many different technologies and methods to help preserve the nature of the area. Over the past three year, D'Arcy Ranch has undergone a specific plan to ensure success with this task and will need to continue this program to remain certified.

As for the actual golf course, it's a part 72 course measuring nearly 7,000 yards from the back tees. With four sets of tees, all skill levels can feel comfortable playing the course. They offer a generous practice facility, lessons, leagues and junior programs, as well. D'Arcy Ranch is a very popular course among the locals and known as one of the top course in the area.

In addition to the golf, a full service pro shop and dining facilities are offered. Golfers can get their clubs fitted specifically for their size and swing by a CPGA Professional. They can also enjoy a meal in the dining room and lounge, which features a full service all day menu, breakfast menu and a wine and liquor menu.

McKenzie Meadows Golf Club

McKenzie Meadows Golf Club is known as the best choice for public golf in Calgary. This facility includes an 18-hole championship golf course, driving range, golf store, restaurant and more. Whether you just want to enjoy a round of golf or you prefer to join a league, there's something for everybody at McKenzie Meadows.

The course was designed by Gary Browning and is a links style golf course. It features seven lakes, plenty of white sand bunkers, four sets of tees and a beautiful view throughout. It's found in the Bow River Valley and the course is only a 20-minute drive from downtown. The longest tees measure 6,605 yards with the shortest tees measuring 5,132. This provides plenty of challenge for any skill level and an enjoyable round for all.

The driving range opens daily at 7am, except on Mondays and Thursdays, when it opens at 10am. Choose from three size buckets and practice as much as you want. If you need instruction, PGA professionals are on staff ready to help you improve your game. Another feature of the practice facility is the Golf Academy, which features a number of sessions to help with fundamentals, ball striking, practice and even video analysis.

After your round, you can enjoy a cold beverage and a meal in the Clubhouse Restaurant. With professional chefs on staff, the menu is excellent with plenty of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is also a great place for your next event or they can help with your catering needs.

The course provides rates ranging from $34.29 to $71.43 depending on the day of the week, time of day and whether you play 18 or 9 holes. Passes are also available from a five round pass to 30 round passes. Driving range passes are also available for 15 or 30 large buckets, along with club rental, pull cards and power carts.

Confederation Park Golf Course

Confederation Park was once called "The North Hill Coulee" and provides plenty of fun for visitors. It covers 162 hectares and is located between 24 Avenue and 14 Street NW to 30 Avenue and 10 Street NW.

This northwest Calgary Park provides all types of features and a home for the Lions Festival of Lights during the Christmas season. As one of the most popular festivals during the winter months, many locals and visitors love the over 100,000 lights included in this festival every year.

Along with the many park features, Confederation Park is also home to a 9-hole golf course and a driving range. With the opportunity to take golf lessons, practice at the two-tier range and play the regulation 9-hole course, golfers love spending time at the Confederation Park Golf Course.

Rates for the course are $30 during the week and $33 on weekends. Seniors receive a $5 discount during the week and Juniors receive a $5 discount during the week and after 4pm on weekends. A regular bucket of balls is $7 and a jumbo bucket is $13.75.

Country Hills Golf Club

Another private course, Country Hills is in Calgary’s North West and has 36-holes in total offering two diverse golf experiences. Neighbourhoods next door are Country Hills Estates, Panorama and Hanson Ranch.

Earl Grey

Another historic course, this private club is on the Glenmore Reservoir in Calgary’s South West quadrant. The community of Lakeview hugs the western edge of this course which blends into North Glenmore Park. An oasis in the city.
