A new 2 tower housing development will be taking shape in the west end of Calgary's downtown area. It's the first time that development has been seen in this part of the city in over 10 years. Cressey Development Group and Grosvenor Americas are working together to help refocus attention back on the west end's potential.
There are currently 7 condominium developments under construction in the downtown core as well as 8 new office projects that are being proposed or have started construction in this area. Enough space will be provided for 30,000 employees along with housing for thousands of residents.
Construction is under way on Avenue, a project that includes 319 suites. It has been designed by James Cheng, a well-known architect in Canada, and will be a welcome addition to the skyline in Calgary. It will be a modern glass and steel building that will offer amenities that are first-class. From the interior of the building, residents will be able to view the Bow River, the cityscape or the Rocky Mountains.
The 2-tower condominium development is being built at 5th Avenue S.W. and 10th Street following a pre-sales campaign that was incredibly successful. These towers will set the benchmark for development in this area for the coming years. They will rise 18 and 24 stories high near Prince’s Island Park and the Bow River.
The prices for the condo units run from the $300,000s to the $700,000s and there is also a 2.2 million dollar penthouse available. There will be 125 units in the 2nd tower and the 1st tower will be built with 194 units. These towers will be situated close to Kensington and the shops and businesses surrounding the downtown core. The condos would be perfect for anyone that wants to live the urban lifestyle.
