Mark your calendar for these special days as Calgary's GlobalFest Fireworks Festival arrives for its biggest and best show yet. This is the 10th anniversary of this festival and to celebrate an extra day has been added to the festivities. Watch as the Philippines, Mexico, China, Brazil, and the USA bring fireworks to life to not only light up the sky but to tell a story as well.

This year's 2012 fireworks display from the Philippines will focus on the environment by spotlighting the responsibility that an individual and humanity as a whole must have to keep it preserved. Mexico will be presenting a display coordinated with Mexican music in the traditional sense, offering a truly festive atmosphere to the activities.

China promises to provide a sky filled with red, China's national color, along with both Western and Chinese-themed music. Brazil will be offering a fireworks show with Brazilian music in hopes that everyone in the crowd will be inspired to jump off their seats and start dancing!

The United States is set to show off a high-energy performance featuring American rock 'n roll and pop. Motion and music will be blending together with imagery and innovative effects. The finale that has been put together by Patrick Braught, one of the most renowned designers for fireworks in Canada, will be offering a metaphor of the non-linear and personal life cycle. This metaphor will symbolize spirituality, success and pleasure as well as regrets and destruction.

Festival Dates:

  • Philippines - Thursday, August 16
  • Mexico - Saturday, August 18
  • China - Monday, August 20
  • Brazil - Wednesday, August 22
  • USA - Friday, August 24
  • Finale - Sunday, August 26
All of the excitement takes place at Elliston Park with stage performances beginning at 6:30 PM and the show ending at 11:30 PM. People that head to the park will be able to enjoy the aquatic fireworks as they bounce right off the water and the reflection of the fireworks on the lake.

This Festival is presented by Trico Homes and promises to be an explosion of excitement. Tickets are on sale now for anyone that is interested in seeing the fireworks right from the park and enjoying the stage performances. Don't forget to bring your children along since kids five and under can get in free with an adult.
